The School of Physical Sciences of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), has presented certificates to 101 students who have obtained a CGPA of 3.6 and above in the various Departments of the School.

The Dean of the School of Physical Sciences, Prof. Emmanuel K. Essel, mentioned that the ceremony had been organised to reward and appreciate students who had excelled in their academic work during the academic year. The ceremony was also expected to serve as motivation to other students to put more effort into their academic work. 

On behalf of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, the Provost of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies, Prof. Francis Eric Amuquandoh, congratulated the students for the hard work and achievement. He said that the awards ceremony was an important occasion for celebrating excellence. He advised the students saying, “The work environment is looking for people who are not only knowledgeable but have attitude. Take advantage of the opportunities available on campus to develop all your potentials so that you leave the University as a holistic individual.” 

Prof. Amuquandoh further commended the Lecturers of the School for their hard work and dedication saying “The students you have presented are an indication that you are preparing quality human resources for nation-building.” He urged the Lecturers to continue to support their students, and provide an enabling environment that would sustain teaching and learning, while assisting and also paying attention to the students who are struggling academically.

The Vice-Dean of the School of Physical Sciences, Prof. John Kwesi Bentum, counseled the students to learn the art of being honest, build integrity, and manage their time and resources well. 

Prof. Moses Joojo Eghan, Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, chaired the ceremony. Also present at the ceremony were faculty, staff and students of the School.
