Professor Dr. rer. nat. habil Martienssen, of the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU), Cottbus-Senftenberg, Germany has paid a courtesy call on the Dean, Office of International Relations (OIR) - UCC, Professor Kwaku Boakye, to discuss ways of deepening the collaboration between the two universities. This forms part of an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UCC and BTU. The two institutions agreed to the establishment of an Erasmus+ Programme as well as the organisation of a joint online conference.
Professor Martienssen who is also the Chair of Biotechnology of Water Treatment was on an official visit to the Department of Environmental Science, School of Biological Sciences.
During her one week visit to the Department, Prof. Dr. Martienssen organised a seminar on Urban Wastewater Treatment for the Post-Graduate students. She was the supervisor of Dr. Isaac Mbir Bryant of the Department of Environmental Science, UCC, who undertook his Ph.D. studies in BTU, Germany.
Present at the meeting were the Vice Dean of OIR, Dr Samuel Bert Boadi-Kusi, Head of Department of Environmental Science, Dr. Michael Miyittah, Dr. Isaac Mbir Bryant, Lecturer, Environmental Science and Miss Audria Dankwah, Senior Assistant Registrar of OIR.
