A four-storey multipurpose Institutional Affiliation Office and Educational Outreach Complex has been inaugurated at the University of Cape Coast.

The office complex features an auditorium with a 250-seat capacity, two seminar rooms with capacities of 60 and 80 seats, respectively, three moderation rooms, a 60-seat training room for interactive learning, and a fully equipped reprography room.

In addition, the building houses ancillary facilities designed to enhance teaching, learning, and resource development, including dining areas for staff and trainees, a teaching and learning resource development space, a modern recording studio, and a staff resource centre.

The event brought together high-level university officials, including the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Aheto, Provosts, Deans, amongst others.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, described the facility's memorable opening as a monumental step forward for the UCC.

He singled out the Head of the Institutional Affiliation Office, Dr. Justice K. Agyenim Boateng, for playing a pivotal role in the construction of the edifice, which began in 2022.

He further commended Antarctic Contract Works Limited, the project managers, the supervising consultants, and all stakeholders whose dedication, vision, and sacrifices made the facility a reality.

According to Prof. Boampong, the building symbolizes the University's commitment to educational innovation, institutional collaboration, and community empowerment through knowledge and research.

“For decades, UCC has been at the forefront of teacher education, educational research, and institutional strengthening in Ghana and beyond.  This new facility marks a significant investment in our vision to transform teacher training, enhance curriculum development, and extend our reach to every corner of the nation,” he added.

Through the School of Educational Development and Outreach (SEDO), the Vice-Chancellor pointed out that the facility would serve as a national hub for capacity-building, supporting teacher education, curriculum innovation, policy engagement, and the development of evidence-based strategies for educational transformation.

Prof. Boampong called on educators, researchers, policymakers, and partner institutions to fully harness its resources to drive educational excellence, foster innovation, and strengthen partnerships that would transform teaching and learning not only in Ghana but across Africa and beyond.
