To strengthen entrepreneurial skills and widen access to business education, the Design Thinking and Innovation Hub (DHub) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has officially launched ‘DHub Learn’, an innovative offline, web-based learning application designed to support aspiring entrepreneurs and small business starters, especially in areas with limited internet access.

D-Hub Learn is designed to serve as a permanent training resource and a first point of contact for individuals seeking to develop business concepts and acquire entrepreneurial knowledge. The platform contains pre-recorded training videos and structured modules aimed at building the capacity of users in a self-paced, offline environment.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Mrs. Keren Naa Abeka Arthur, Director of D-Hub, expressed excitement about the launch and the opportunities the platform presents for individuals, especially students, who are interested in starting businesses. “DHub has been looking forward to getting a permanent place that will be the first point of contact, and I am happy we have been able to do this today,” she indicated.  Dr. Arthur also highlighted that D-Hub Learn will facilitate concept refinement.

Ms. Gifty Anab, the African Director for the Community Development Network (CDN), a key partner in the project, echoed the sentiments of the director of D-Hub.  She explained that the vision of CDN aligns with that of D-Hub, particularly in making knowledge more accessible to all.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, officially launched the D-Hub Learn application and commended the initiative as one that aligns strongly with the University’s vision of becoming a leader in entrepreneurial education.

“It stands as a testament to the course of ensuring UCC is an entrepreneurial university,” he said.

He revealed that over 87 business ideas have been developed within the university community and expressed optimism that D-Hub Learn will enhance and scale such achievements even further.

Prof. Boampong also took the opportunity to commend the D-Hub team for their innovation and dedication.

The launch was also graced by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto.
