The Office of the Vice-Chancellor coordinates all the major activities of the University. The office basically comprises the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor’s offices. Other offices such as the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Centre for International Education, Directorate of Research, Innovation & Consultancy and the Institutional Advancement Office are directly under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.

Major decisions that affect the running of the University are taken by the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Governing Council of the University. The majority of correspondence to the University and from all the University are received by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor. The office coordinates activities of all the other offices that are directly under the Vice-Chancellor.

  • The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the University and is responsible for organising and conducting the academic, financial and administrative business of the University and for promoting the efficiency and good order of the University.
  • The Vice-Chancellor is the academic and administrative head and chief disciplinary officer of the University.
  • The Vice-Chancellor is a member of the University Council and a member of every standing committee of Council, Academic Board as well as the Administrative and Social Services Board.
  • The Vice-Chancellor advises the University Council, the Academic Board and the Administrative and Social Services Board, on all matters affecting policy, finance and administration of the University.
